Politco Rantings

I promised myself I would not get political on this blog, but I am breaking that promise to myself here. There are some things that need to be outlined about the two campaigns.

Joe Biden is experienced enough to warrant a VP position, however, I don't believe he would be a very good VP. He is an excellent debater and well versed in the inner workings of Washington D.C., but at the same time I don't see his past record as something that would verify that he would work adamantly to ensure progress as the Vice President.

Sarah Palin is certainly able to be a Vice President though I can't help but feel that he needs a little more experience as a Governor or in some other public office before stepping into the White House.

Barack Obama's health care plan would give us the system that is so disliked in Britain and other European Countries. Yes it would be more affordable to lower class individuals like myself, but I would much rather pay for my own health insurance and get better quality from it than to have all the Doctors who are good enough to go elsewhere leave this country and leave us with shitty health care.

His middle name "Hussein" should not sway votes. Hussein is a popular name throughout the world, and it gives him no ties to Saddam. Let us also not forget the King Hussein of Jordan was one of the good guys. If Barack Obama wanted to use his name to win votes he would have changed it to John Adams Obama or Franklin Delano Obama.

Barack Obama does have ties to BILL AYERS, and that should concern you.

John McCain is old. So? he has spent his entire adult life in service to this country, in the Navy and then in Public Office sense. When he says he knows how to get things done he isn't fibbing. It is true that John McCain has not always made the right decisions but at least the man does things. What has Obama done in the Senate?

John McCain's economic plan creates jobs. Obama's doesn't. Small businesses do not make more money by having more employees - they make more money by having more customers so next time you go out shop at an independent book store instead of Barnes and Noble.

Barack Obama does want to raise taxes. If taxes are raised I will not be able to pay rent. He says that the taxes will be raised on only those over a certain amount salary a year but we all know that a tax raise is a tax raise. Remember it was the Democratic congress that raised gas taxes.

It is true that under Bush's Administration we have experienced the worst economic crises since the great depression but if you would please note the worst of this happened when congress became Democrat. I am not a republican but I think it is fair to say that the legislative branch since 2006 has severely let the American people down.

We are at War people. We cannot up and pull out of Iraq. If we do that we will be breeding more soldiers hell bent on terrorism. We must stay to rebuild Iraq and to make sure that Iraq can and will thrive so that we may have a new ally. Iraq isn't our enemy. Iraq can be our friend. General David Petraeus is a very intelligent and skilled leader. Generals have a history of telling the truth. If General Petraeus is telling us he surge is working then it is working. No one hates sending American sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, wives, husbands, sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles into combat where lives will be lost more than A General and the President. George H.W. Bush doodled a picture of himself crying when the report of the first American being killed in the Gulf War came to him. These are the people who have to make these decisions and live with them. They hate making these decisions but they do what has to be done for the American People. Didn't Oliver North warn us about Osama Bin Laden? And congress didn't listen. Who cost us more lives then? Oliver North who wanted to go after Bin Laden? Or Congress who scoffed at the idea? Considering that since that time the American Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania were bombed, the WTC was bombed, and the USS Cole was bombed (a direct insufferable act of war that went unanswered) and then the WTC was obliterated and thousands of lives lost, and the pentagon wrecked as well.

If you want a president who will make the hard decisions and work for this country and for the safety of this country the n John McCain is your president.

Watching the debate last night Barack Obama stalled and stumbled on every question. He looked lost. Un-confident. If McCain spoke first Obama did nothing more than repeat McCain's statements. He seemed insincere.

McCain was calm, presidential, he seemed honest and open. He was respectful. And, he got his points across fairly clearly whereas I'm still not sure Obama actually said anything on some questions.

It is true that both candidates continuously went over time. Obama did this more often than McCain did, to the point where he incited a lecture from the very professional Tom Brokaw who kept his cool even as Barack Obama tried to talk over him.

and lastly, the most important thing i have to say:

THE MEDIA IS BIASED!

Watching the debate I felt it was clear that McCain won. He was presidential, sincere, his points were well lined out, he was respectful. Obama looked lost, often searching for words, he looked insincere. I cannot look at his eyes and trust him. I feel that he is a man who just wants to become president and will say and do anything to get there. With John McCain I feel like this is a man who has done his job for the American people and has done it well.

Yet, all the newspapers, online articles, and t.v. news anchors are reporting that Barack Obama won!?!?

ALL JOURNALISM PROFESSIONALS NEED TO BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES. This journalistic bias has been going on all campaign long. There have been a few journalists who have kept their professionalism about them but many have not. Read through the LINES! Watch the debates, hell, call the campaigns and have them outline the platform and ticket for you so you know where the candidates stand. Look at their records in public office. It should not matter that McCain has more years in office than Obama but What ha Obama really done.
If your going to vote how the New York Times reports things also bother to listen to Rush (hopefully his ego won't turn you away) If you going to listen to Colmes listen to Hannity. If you're going to read or watch or listen to any news report make it Bill O'Reilly, THEN FIGURE OUT THE TRUTH FOR YOURSELVES!

The country can only work through the muck if our leaders are working together. Obama is not the man to get those Washington fat belts to work together John McCain is.

Baylor Lost, and I'm still a Bear

Baylor Lost.

Figures.

I'm still wearing my Baylor Jersey though.

The newspaper said "Oklahoma crushed Baylor". That's B.S. pure and simply. Yes Oklahoma won 49-17, but for the #1 Sooners to only beat the #30 Bears 49 to 17, the word "crushed" is not put to good use there. Crushed means a shut-out. Crushed would mean the Sooners came on the field and didn't allow the Bears a point.

It's true that Baylor is not the Big 12 Dynasty it used to be. It's true that Guy Morris isn't the world's most winning coach, but Baylor is coming out of a slump. It takes time to build a team back up, and I think Baylor held their own on Saturday.

Of course I may just be harping on my hopes to someday not to be the only person with a Baylor shirt on in South Carolina. C'mon Bears, do it for us wayward Baylorites.

Sic 'em Bears

Not much to type about really today. Nothing at all has happened... at all. Except - these shoes make my feet look clunky. these pants are too small and I take on the role of the Plumber's Daughter whenever I bend or sit, but fortunately Baylor is playing Oklahoma State tonight and I am wearing my Baylor Jersey which hides my rear, and the fact that my rear is flagging.

I do Hope Baylor Upsets Oklahoma...
though I doubt it.

I'm a slacker

So it's sad but it's true. I am a slacker.

I could defend my unforgivable absence from blogging by saying, "the fact that I have no readers makes me feel unappreciated in the world of blog literature", but that's not the point of a blog - especially one entitled "Maddie's Mind." The point of the blog is to put my mind on some server somewhere - and if someone should so choose to subscribe to and read my blog that is their prerogative - and, God help them.

I could say that my life is boring and I just don't have anything to blog about, and whereas the nothing-to-blog-about part is true I definitely cannot get away with saying that my life is boring. In the midst of working, trying to start a small local publishing company, wondering where the hell my voter registration went, applying to go back to school - dealing with FAFSA, and then the everyday occurrences that happen - it's not boring.

The truth is I have not made myself to set aside time to blog.

I hate FAFSA, by the way.
